Sloppy Poppys

As you celebrate your Memorial holiday
with a picnic or day at the beach,
please remember those who gave all
for our great country.
God Bless Veterans

We will have an indoor picnic today,
as we expect rain.
This is a recipe from 30 Minute Meals,
but as usual, we adapt to our dietary needs.
We call 'em Sloppy Poppys.
It hits the spot with some homemade
potato or carrot salad.
Enjoy!

Sloppy Joe Di Maggios
(Rachael Ray)

1 T olive oil
1 chopped onion
1 T chili powder
3 T Worcestershire
2 lbs. ground turkey
1 T steak seasoning
3 T sucanat
1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz.)

Heat oil in deep skillet over medium-high heat.
Add meat and brown.  Add onions and cook to soften,
5-6 minutes.  In a bowl, mix spices, sucanat,
Worcestershire and tomatoes.
Pour sauce over meat and simmer a few minutes.
Serves 8-10

***For the vegetarian version, I use Boca crumbles and omit
the Worcestershire.  You can also add black beans.
