One Simple Thing-Containers

One of the most helpful techniques when organizing a space
is to find the appropriate container.

In the kitchen, drawer organizers help to corral like items
and make clean-up a breeze.

Adding shelving increases storage tenfold
and makes use of otherwise wasted space.

Jars are a sure-fire way to keep food fresh
while making it simple to see what you're seeking.

These racks allow for more space
inside the cabinet.

Cleaning supplies are easy to tote from room to room
in their own caddy.

Important papers and checklists can be found
in the family's household notebook,
which is kept in the kitchen.

Baskets in the linen closet
make towels and sheets a snap to keep track of.

Personal papers are color-coded in sturdy files.

Using what you have is the best way to get started.
Feel free to use unusual containers
(like this lunchbox).

These plastic drawers are meant for nuts, bolts and screws.
That doesn't mean that you can't repurpose them
to suit the needs of your household.
Lego storage!

Keeping like things together in one place,
in the most suitable container,
makes it easy to find what you need,
when you need it.
That way, there's more time
to do what ya want.

How much time could you save?

  1. I just want to let you know you inspired me to get on a cleaning schedule to help organize this task I do detest. So far, it is going ok. I am only 1 day behind ;) But at least the cleaning is getting done on a regular basis and I dont end up having to do it all in one day cause I put it off for so long. Now if you would only come up and organize my closets :)

  2. I'm with you Daisy, having containers has saved me so much time in so many different areas. I'm always on the lookout for new free ones, whether they be cardboard or plastic. I suspect once we have more spare money and know what exact sizes would be useful we'll splurge on nicer ones, but in the meantime, free might not look as pretty but it sure saves me just as much time, and everything looks organized! :)

  5. Hi Daisy,

Any chance you could let me know the brand of the nut/bolt/screw containers, or the store you got them from - they're just what I need!

    Thanks,

    Mark

    1. I believe we bought them at Lowe's, but I would think they'd be available at any hardware store. You can also scan Craig's List and Freecycle in your area.
