Tuesday Tidings-For the Birds

While cleaning up the garage this weekend,
I came across this bird feeder we had acquired a while back.
It was a homeschooling project we never got around to.

  The base comes with instructions.
We saved one of Big K's 2-liter bottles.
Other sizes can be used too.
Bird seed was found recently for a reasonable price.

The base piece is made from recycled plastic.

The funnel we have is a bit narrow,
so it didn't work as well as we'd hoped.

A piece of scrap paper rolled into a cone shape
does the trick.

The base gets screwed onto the bottle.

Turn it over and
VOILA!

The handle snaps off of the base component...

and is inserted through small slots
made with a craft knife.

"Come and get it!"

  1. Ha! My to-do list has "get a bird feeder and bird identification chart for our area" on it. Now if I could only find one in my garage... :-)

  2. How neat! I need to put out some feeders for the birds. We have so many birds in our yard right now!

  3. What a great idea! I'm hoping my bird feeders are salvageable.....they are currently under a couple feet of snow. The snow slid off the roof and crashed right into them. The poor birds won't find them there! :)

    1. It's amazing to me that the birds would stick around there in winter with all that snow! BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

    1. It's quick and easy! I'll bet he'd love knowing that he's taking care of the birds.

  5. Made me laugh seeing this ... the last time I made a bird feeder out of a 2 liter bottle, I went outside to find a squirrel stuck inside. He had eaten his way in and couldn't turn around to get out. While I was contemplating how to get him out without being attacked, he stopped moving!! I was afraid he had suffocated with the hole blocked by his fanny, but I was still afraid to get bit. I walked over and poked him in the butt and he came flying out of there like a rocket! I don't know which of us was more startled LOL. [#TALU]
