Taters

According to my handy-dandy planting guide,
potatoes should be sown here in March.
Oooops...
Didn't get the seed potatoes until last week.
Seems I'm always pushin' that envelope...

We use these all the time, so we're hoping for the best.
I'd like to find organic seed next time.

They seemed a bit squishy, so I hope they are okay.
Can you tell I've never planted potatoes?

According to package instructions,
they were cut into pieces and left to dry for a few days.

The ends harden off a bit
and they're ready to put into the ground.

Already formed sprouts mound atop.

That's the side that goes up!

Here's the small bed where we will tend them.
Soil will be added as plants start to burst out of the bed.
See the small basil plant in the upper right-hand corner?

Does that mean we'll have basil flavored taters?
Hmmm, that wouldn't be so bad I guess.

Enjoy your day, whatever you're planting!

  1. I hope you have great luck with potatoes! We've tried a few times and it's been hit or miss. But, we have no idea what we're doing. ;)
