Homesteading Edited by Abigail R. Gehring
*****

Front Cover

"Whether you live in the wilderness, the suburbs, or even in the heart of the city, there is plenty you can do to lead a more self-sufficient and greener lifestyle.  Living simply should be just that-simple.  You do not need a lot of time, special equipment, or acres of land to experience the excitement and satisfaction of the homesteader's life.  With the step-by-step instructions, photographs, charts, and tips in this book, anyone can make the shift to a smarter, greener, more fulfilling way of life."

I would have to agree with this book's description.  This resource is comprehensive enough to get anyone started on homesteading.  With chapters on raising and preparing food, building structures, energy solutions and recipes for personal care products, the reader can go from thinking about being more self reliant to practicing it on a daily basis.  Chocked full of vibrant photographs and diagrams for completing projects, this book could serve well as a starting point for those a bit unsure of just where to begin.  An easy read.

  1. Thanks Daisy. I've just put a hold on this at my library, I can't remember if I've already read it or not.

  3. Hey Daisy...You are a heavy duty reader. You remind me of myself because generally I read to learn more about something, and I love reading about simplifying.

  4. Susan-Yeah, when I'm interested in something, I love to learn more about it. Especially when it feels like the right spiritual fit.
    Happy reading!
