Purposeful Storage

We're making the transition from plastic to glass.
Whenever possible, we look for glassware at thrift stores.
We've been fortunate to find many glass jars
and even some Fire King pieces.

I don't often buy new.
Big K knew I was hoping to get rid of
the plastic storage containers
we had and replace them with glass.
He came across a good deal online.
This 16-piece (8 bowls, 8 lids) set was around $20.
Bingo!

The bonus?  The lids are BPA-free.

Even better than the great price
is the fact that they are made in the USA.
We are making a concerted effort
to find American-made products.

On the sidebar of this blog,
you can find a list of companies
who manufacture or sell products made in our country.

Looking forward to filling the fridge with good things to eat
and supporting my country, even in a small way.

  3. A deal, glass, BPA free, and made in the USA-Awesome :) I've been trying to use as less plastic as I can lately and it's very hard because you don't realize how much plastic you use until you try to NOT use it!

  4. Great find. My daughter went glass and BPA free with her second child, you can't beat Made In America. I'll be checking out your list:).

  5. We did that last year. What a wonderful way to collect your glass dishes - otherwise it gets so expensive! I've managed to get us down to only plastic freezer containers - everything else is glass. :)

  6. We have a collection of Pyrex dishes that have been gifted to me over the years. Every year I ask for more, because I seem to run out during heavy cooking times.

Also, I've been lucky enough to find matching piece at the local Goodwill, and even mis-matched lids that fit mine perfectly.

  7. Very cool! Love that they are American made, too. You know we love that. I'm curious whether my Pyrex are American-made. Off to check out your sidebar.

  8. We've been slowly switching over and usually only have to resort to plastic near the end of busy weeks. I would love to toss the plastic for once and for all, but until we get a bit more I suspect we'd then end up using disposable bags, which really is worse! So for now I'll have to keep my eye out for a good deal like you got! :)

  10. I just hopped over from Deborah Jean's place. I love the idea!

I don't even want to think what the plastic does to us. I need to challenge myself to replace the plastic with glass!

And what better than to buy American made?

    Blessings!
