A "Sinking" Feeling...

Our grocery shopping is done early on Saturdays.
When I get to the store before 9,
it just makes life easier.

A couple of weeks ago, this greeted me.
There had been a sinkhole that formed in the parking lot.
Fortunately, it happened overnight,
when no one was parked there.

"Sinkholes are part of the slow, natural process of erosion in Florida’s limestone terrain
that occur over thousands of years. These common geologic phenomena generally occur
where the limestone is within a few hundred feet of the land’s surface."-source

Every part of the country has something-tornadoes out west,
earthquakes in California, ice storms up north.
Sinkholes are one of the natural disasters that some folks here have to deal with.

It's a bit unnerving to realize that the ground can buckle and collapse at any time.
We've never been this close to one before.
Hopefully, we never will again.

Here's hoping you're on solid ground today!

  1. Good morning Daisy
Sinkholes are a scary phenomenon--I know a lot of places are having them due to drilling, etc as well. I guess it can happen anywhere-but yea, that's a little close.
    Have a good weekend
