Our kitchen is cleaned thoroughly once a week
as explained in this post.
Countertops, appliances, floors and sink
are given a good overall scrubdown.
In general, I'd say our house is pretty clean.
Then I look closer and notice things like this...
and this.
Although it's not clear how this stuff accumulates,
it does show up, even with regular cleaning.
It can be quite a problem.
Here's the solution.
Simply pull out the sprayer and place it
in a shallow bowl of straight vinegar.
Leave it to soak for at least 30 minutes.
You'll find the gunk comes right off
with a quick scrub of a toothbrush
(retired toothbrushes are one of the best things to repurpose).
For the faucet base, simply soak a rag in the vinegar
and wrap it around like a scarf.
In just a few minutes' time, it'll do its magic
with absolutely no help from you.
A few passes with the toothbrush
and what an improvement!
Simple, quick and easy.
That's the way we like it around here.
Good old vinegar-what would we do without it?
ReplyDeleteBut wow-have you seen how the price has increased over the past couple years? Crazy.
Yeah, you're right. I wonder if Jane has a recipe for making your own!
Deletetotally with you on using recycled toothbrushes! Although Little M is still of an age where she occasionally tries to make off with them when we're cleaning... :P Great encouragement to use vinegar more than I currently am :)
ReplyDeleteGotta keep an eye on that little one! She's learning great habits from her Momma.
DeleteThanks for the tip! I'll have to give vinegar a try next time.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure.
DeleteI've been meaning to try that on the shower head and that is a great idea wrapping the rag around! I will have to use that one :)
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to remove the shower head, you can just place a plastic bag over the head with the vinegar in it and secure it with a rubber band. Works like a charm!
