Barin' My Drawers!

Not those drawers.
Kitchen drawers.
One of my focuses for this year
is to get back to doing some organizing around here.
It's something I've always enjoyed
and have even gotten paid to do for others.
Today I started with just one drawer.
That's really all it takes.  Just start somewhere.
Any unneeded items will be brought
to the local "Meals on Wheels" thrift shop.

The cutest lil' lemon squeezer you ever did see,
but it never gets used.
So, out it goes...

If the house is organized
before we put it on the market,
it will be more appealing to potential buyers.
They need to feel that their treasures
will fit in each space with room to spare.

Energy needs room to move around.

It feels good to let things go,
knowing they will
be of some use to another owner.
If we don't make room for the new stuff, we get stuck
I believe that keeps us from realizing our dreams.

Gotta make the dreams feel welcome...

  1. I guess the reason I never get organized is I keep bringing things into the house. Like that lemon bird. If I saw that at the thrift shop, it would be coming home with me.

  2. Jane-The general rule is, if something comes in, something goes out.

  3. It certainly helps for things to be neat and organized when selling a house. I am always shocked at the state of some homes when out house-hunting. It'll help you when packing things up to move too.

  4. Floridagirl-Yes, I agree. I just feel more centered when things are organized. We only want to take with us what we absolutely treasure. The rest will work itself out.

  5. I need to clean out some drawers again, too. You're smart to get the house looking good for prospective buyers...although I do hate to see you leave Florida. Oh well, I'll just have to follow along to the new Maple Hill. That lemon squeezer is adorable. I've never seen one like that.

  7. For some reason, I can hear you saying "barin' my drawers" in a sweet Southern accent and it just lit me up! Thanks for the smile Daisy!

  8. We just moved house mid December and i was doing the 14 week 101 challenge with ABFOL before that so every room was decluttered and organised. Lots of stuff went to the op shop, church, playgroups and the tip. It felt soooooo good to declutter and purge. We ve had to purge again when we realised that some furniture just would not fit into our new home but i was ruthless by then. The best part has been throwing away the packing and appliances boxes i have held onto for over five years. So all the best with your declutter, purge, and open homes. Any idea of wher you are moving to?

Thanks for the good wishes. We'll be moving up to the Carolinas.
