While on vacation recently,
Sister shared with me a container of shea butter
she found online.
For the last couple of months,
my hands have been painfully dry.
It was a good chance to try mixing up a soothing salve.
Shea butter and coconut oil are both well-known
as skin softeners.
About 1/2 cup of shea butter was placed in a small bowl.
Mashing it with a fork broke it down quite a bit.
In just a few minutes it looked like this.
Looks like butt-uh.
3 soup spoonfuls of coconut oil were mixed in.
Just a few drops of an essential oil completed the emulsion.
This simple recipe has helped my hands so much.
Of course it can be used all over.
Wouldn't it make a lovely holiday gift?
If you have a mixer or blender,
you can make it super smooth.
A few lumps don't bother me, I'm just happy that it works.
Thanks, Sister,
for always sharing and helping foster my creativity.
Enjoy!
That would make a perfect gift! I have some coconut oil in my bathroom that I use after I dry my hair. I rub some into my hands then rub over my hair. It helps keep the frizzies at bay!
ReplyDeleteI bet the shea butter would be great for your hands. Mine are pretty dry this time of year so I think it would help out a lot.
What a great idea! I'll have to try that this weekend!
