Thrifty Thursday-Ride On!

Big K is beyond handy.
He can fix just about anything
with a paper clip, a rubber band and some glue.
The Original MacGyver.
This is his latest project with Lil' Guy.

One was found along the side of the road.
The other was obtained by a fellow who was asked to remove
an overabundance of "stuff" in front of his house
by a friendly code enforcement officer.
Big K offered him $20 for it.
He jumped on it.

Here's what they did...

This rack wasn't as desireable as...

the toolbox.
Lil' Guy likes to haul stuff around.

The tires were in baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad shape.

A simple swap-out was in order.

The grill on one was better than the other
and one light was missing in front.

Easy enough to replace.

Wax makes everything look better.

Here's the finished project.

Hmmmm, just what we needed,
another ride-on.
Pretty soon there won't be room in the garage
for the family vehicles!

Boys and their toys...

Bloomin' Tuesday

Summer's on its way out and autumn is almost here.
Can't say that's anything but a good thing.
We still have plenty of color to share today.

Gluten-Free Pizza Crust

We look forward to homemade pizza at least once a month.
The crust is so easy to make
and with homemade gravy, it really hits the spot.

Not having found a tasty gluten-free store bought bread
that doesn't cause Lil' Guy some reaction,
this recipe fills the bill.
He likes just a little gravy and
browned ground chicken on his,
although any toppings could be added.
This crust is thick and hearty.
Now we can all enjoy pizza nights.

Gluten-Free Bean Flour Pizza Crust

1/4 C bean flour
1 1/4 C gf flour
1/4 t salt
1 t baking powder
1/4 C olive oil
1/2 C rice milk
1 t Italian seasonings
2 cloves minced garlic

Mix dry ingredients in medium bowl.
In separate bowl, combine oil and milk.
Add wet to dry ingredients.
Transfer to baking sheet and flatten to 1/4" thickness.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes,
then add toppings and bake another 8 minutes.
Makes 1 pizza.
Enjoy!

Made in America

Periodically, materials that are used in my work as a tutor
need to be replenished.
Happily, these American-made items were located
at a local office supply store.

These pens are made from recycled plastic bottles.
Cool, right?
Not only do they write smoothly,
refills are available,
so you don't have to toss out the whole pen.
Love that!

Looking for this label wherever possible.

Every step toward using recyclable products helps us
keep materials out of landfills.
Supporting our economy in little ways
can only move us forward.
We are trying to pay attention to our purchases
so that we can be part of the solution.

Have a great weekend, y'all!
