The Maple Hill Hop 46

Maple Hill Hop

Welcome to
The Maple Hill Hop
This is a hop for folks who love the outdoors.
Feel free to post about anything that's going on
OUTSIDE
in your neck of the woods.
(Please share only outdoor posts.)

We are hoping the heat of summer will soon be waning.
Fall planting is set to commence this week.
The square-foot bed is looking mighty sad right now.
Hopefully, soon it will be filled with seedlings.
We're planning on sowing beets, lettuce, snap peas,
green beans, leek, garlic and eggplant.

I decided to start some pineapple plants in the back bed.
Several  months ago, I gave away the ones I had
that had provided us with luscious fruit.
This is so easy to grow, I thought it should make a comeback.
Even though we are selling our home,
it will be a gift to the new owners.
You can see the technique for planting pineapple here.

 The bulbine is happily blooming.
This Florida-friendly plant asks for very little,
but has a big impact on the garden.

The cactus zinnias have become a new favorite.
They come in colors from this bright orange,
to a brilliant yellow to a vibrant magenta.
Love the ruffly petals.

I hope you are enjoying your time in the great outdoors.
What's happening where you are?
HOP ON!
