Daisy, trees are a magnificent plant, aren't they. I had to cut down one huge branch of a big old Mulberry tree before planting Terra Nova Gardens the first time. I counted some where around 70 rings in the stump of the branch. That would make the tree seed starting to sprout about the time of the starting of World War II. That part of town was open land probably covered with wild saplings, vines, weeds, and scrub brush. It most likely was dropped there by a bird flying over after eating Mulberries from another tree close by. The history that tree has seen just like the tree in your wordless Wednesday would be fascinating to hear, don't you think?
Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe top photo reminds me of those pictures of severe droughts--when the soil is all cracked and baked.
Have a wonderful week!
(and certainly hope you've been safe from all the storms....)
We are safe-n-sound, thank you for thinking of us! ;0)
