It Pays to Have Big Feet

After the rush of the Christmas season is over,
there are shoes under our tree.
Why, you may ask?

The shoe fairy is coming to visit!

Not sure how this got started in our family,
(it's based on French lore),
but we celebrate the arrival of the shoe fairy
every December 31st.
On that night, we place one shoe under the Christmas tree
so she knows where to find it.
When we awaken on New Year's Day,
there is one small trinket left for us in our shoe
to start the new year off "on the right foot".

Happy Holidays, y'all!

  1. How cute. I almost thought you were going to say that you get a new pair of shoes. I was already to say 'Im In!'

  2. This is such a fun tradition! I'm seeing lots of tree traditions between the Shoe Fairy and St. Nick's Day. =) Thanks so much for linking up to Dare to DIY for the past weeks. I love reading everyone's ideas, projects and traditions.

  4. I love this tradition, Daisy! Sorry I've been MIA lately. Between the death of the Dell laptop with all my photos (RIP) and some hideously timed deadlines at work, I've been a little under the radar lately. Been thinking about you and enjoying your posts when I can, though! Hope your holiday preparations are going well and you are having a very wonderful holiday with your family-Big hugs and thanks for sharing this great idea!
