The Maple Hill Hop 132

Maple Hill Hop

Welcome to
The Maple Hill Hop.
This is a hop for folks who love the outdoors.
Feel free to post about anything that's going on
OUTSIDE
in your neck of the woods,
no matter the season.
(Please share only outdoor posts.)

On Saturday, my boy and I went on a bit of a field trip.
We had three separate realtors showing the house,
so we had to find something to do for a couple of hours.
Big K was at a HAM meeting and he met up with us.
It was a perfect day to visit Central Park
in downtown Winter Haven.

Every couple of months,
new artwork is displayed from various national artists.
This was a great opportunity for C to learn about abstract art.
We each discussed what the sculpture represented to us
and it was obvious to me that he's matured.
He was okay with the idea that the artwork could mean different things to different people.
That wasn't always the case.

As tempting as it was to climb these amazing pieces,
we heeded the sign and kept our feet on the ground.

Something else we noticed throughout the downtown area,
were the newly painted utility boxes.
What a simple and wonderful improvement!

It just goes to show that with a bit of creativity,
even the most dreary and utilitarian objects
can be made into works of art.

Another new discovery was this book box.
I originally profiled this idea here.

Take a book, leave a book,
no questions asked.
The honor system is alive and well here in downtown!

It was an enjoyable morning,
  a walk in the park,
just my boy and me

That's what's going on around here.
What's happening in your neck of the woods?
Let's HOP!
